Ever noticed that spiral stairs in historic buildings rotate in the same direction? There’s reason for this. When defending the building from attack people would retreat into the towers. By building the stairs in this direction it was easy for the retreating defender to operate their sword with their right hand, than it was for the attacker to advance up the stairs fighting right-handed.
Yes. That is an interesting fact. Now when we visit any place that has a spiral staircase we always take note of that and pretend we are sword fighting along the stairs. 🙂
