From every angle

I am continually amazed how many people from this area have not been to the cathedral in years.  Living in the shadow of this 1,000 year old, amazing stone giant and some say, “Oh I haven’t been up there in 20 years or more.”  ImageI start to become shocked but then I stop and think…….what do I live near and never visit?  My daughter, 10 years old, has NEVER visited the USS Alabama.  It sits in Mobile Bay within miles of our home and we never visit her.  We have all kinds of reasons…too hot in the summer…too busy in the winter….work….

I visit the lovely Durham Cathedral every week. Image I take photos of it from every angle in every light. Image Possibly because I know that I will only be here a short time and so I don’t want to miss a single moment of living here in awe-inspiring North-East England.

In this digital age photographs are blessedly free. Image So I will take them from every angle and in every light until I leave and then……I will return home and attempt to do the same in my own lovely and fascinating home town.

Anyone up for a tour of the USS Alabama next fall?

Love where you live and bloom where you are planted,

Beth 🙂

  1. I am game for the USS Alabama! I haven’t been in over 20 years. But yo are so right about us just keeping our heads down and pushing on day today. I can’t even remember the last time I walked through downtown Fairhope! Thanks for sharing your pictures

    • I am going to be more aware of the beautiful things around me when I return. The commercials here in the wintertime are all for beautiful beach destinations. I see the pictures and I think that looks like where I live. We probably only go to the beach 4 times each summer. Sounds good about the USS Alabama it would be a nice follow up bog post too!

  2. A man we just met was telling us about the Celtic saints that are in the Durham cathedral. We felt the same way about our cathedral in Worcester.
