We like sheep

Found a few beautiful sheep today while waiting for the storm to materialise.  Saw a few rainbows and a very calm North Sea.  The storm stayed to our south.

Sheep are lovely and peaceful.  We enjoyed watching them enjoy the green grass as they faced the cold day in their warm wool coats.

These content sheep are enclosed in wooden fences but most we found were behind centuries old stone fences.  We are continually amazed by the miles upon miles of ancient stone fences that surround England.  These fences were certainly a legacy to pass on to future generations.   Sheep must be carefully watched and enclosed because they lack natural defences from predators.

Isaiah 53:6 says, “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

We are much like sheep who stray and wander without God to guide and direct us.  We also lack natural defences against an enemy who prowls about seeking to steal, kill and destroy.   Isn’t it wondrous that God would take our sins and wanderings and lay them all  on Christ and that He would pay the price for our mistakes if only we would believe on Him, accept the free gift and come into the fold.

John 10:10  says “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

We LIKE sheep.

I want to lie down in green pastures, walk beside still waters and fear not because the Lord is my shepherd.  He wants to be your shepherd too.

Blessings,

Beth
