Monday morning while we waited for the rain to clear, we took a quick drive to nearby Scottsboro, Alabama. We had heard that they was a very unique, “must see” store there. It seems that in 1970 a man by the name of Doyle Owens had an idea to purchase unclaimed baggage and repurpose and sell the contents. Thus the “Unclaimed Baggage Center” was born.
We and our camping friends found a lot of cool items inside this amazing store.
Unclaimed Baggage Center boast 7,000 new items daily. We saw two saddles, rows of watches and jewelry. There was an entire room of electronics, dvds, phones, iPads, Bose headphones…….
- Currency from every land
- Books
- Art
- Clothes, hats, suits, tuxes, formal wear, wedding gowns…….
Anything and EVERYTHING that someone could lose in their luggage can be found in this place…..

Here are a few more pictures of unusual finds at this one of a kind place……..
On our way back to DeSoto and our campsite the sky cleared and we found a magnificent view of the Tennessee River.
So, if you ever find yourself in Northeast Alabama take a drive over and see what treasures await.
Cheers,
Beth
